HOW THE BAZAAR WORKS AT RIVERVIEW SCHOOL

WHAT IS THE BAZAAR?

The major fundraising effort of Riverview School is through the Bazaar each year. This brings in about $30,000.00 to $35,000.00 of profit each year. This is a wonderful effort and is a credit to parents who organize and the public who support us.

WHEN IS IT HELD?

The Bazaar is timed for  mid-September each year. This allows us to enjoy the long hot summers and Christmas without the Bazaar pressure. This also fits in with the finish of the winter sports competition and doesn’t clash with too many other community activities.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN ATTRACTIONS?

Þ Lion’s Train, Trailblazers, games, pony rides, lucky dip, Tunnel of Doom, Face painting, balloon darts, coconut shy, horizontal bungee, and lots more

Þ Banana splits, breakfast, curry, Devonshire tea, Fajitas, hot chips, nachos, burgers, spit, ice cream waffles and more.

Þ Books, used clothing, white elephant, kids’ shop, crafts, raffles, candy floss, cakes, Silent auction, sweets and more.

Þ Great entertainment including local bands, Kapa Haka

There’s always room for new ideas so if you have them and can organize them, pass them on to the planning committee so we can have a space for you.

How do I get involved?

Ask at reception.

Requests are made through the newsletter for donations of goods, for the raffles, for cooking, for the food hall or time to help make things e.g. cakes or preserves, crafts.

The important thing is to become involved and not how much or how little you can contribute. Whatever it is it’s very much appreciated. This is a great way to get to know other parents involved with the school. The Bazaar after-match function is also a great way to finish the day and discuss all the things that went well and those other things too.

Thanks.
